Wondering What to Post Today… Easy, UGC

We have all been stuck in the predicament of what to post now. It can take hours to find/create content and creatively write your post. While content calendars can help handle that problem, your page may not be reflecting the 80/20 rule. (The 80/20 rule indicates that 80% of social media posts should be useful to your audience — meaning, it educates, entertains, or offers a solution to their problems — and only 20% should explicitly promote your business.) If followers are looking to be educated and entertained while not feeling like an ad, customer reviews are perfect to share! In fact, 84% of people trust online reviews as much as their friends. These reviews are a goldmine of UGC!

Instagram and Twitter are the easiest way to find UGC, and that can then be shared on Facebook accounts. Use a branded hashtag and constantly search what people are tagging to it. For Instagram, make sure you are checking what you have been tagged in. For example, Stoney Clover Lane is a line of travel accessories that are candy colored with customizable patches. They are a fun Instagram account to watch! When customers daily tag them with their new purchase, the company’s favorite images are shared on Stoney Clover Lane’s stories for other potential customers to see the hype.

Tagged images are also monitored daily to maintain the aesthetic the company is aiming for. Whenever a customer does tag the brand, there is always a comment or like from Stoney Clover Lane which helps to maintain customer appreciation.

But all of this is for a brand… what about a group, like Mom Style, Keeping Us Cute Like We Are On the Real Housewives? If you know a member is a beauty insider, search them on Instagram, or check out their blog. There will be tons of content that you can share with the group. Don’t forget to tag the group member. They most likely appreciate the share because it ends up promoting their page and blog.

Every week in the Facebook group there is a fashion theme. Try making ever Wednesday “Wear it Wednesday” where the admin can search members IG pages to catch them wearing something that could inspire others. Ask if you can share it in the group and promote that it’s a group member following the trend. It allows the community to get to know the members better.

All of this remains A LOT of work for the admin. Maybe creating a branded hashtag (#RealHousewivesMomStyle) would allow members to post on IG images and videos that could be shared easier without the admin searching for the content. Remember not to just grab anything that is in the hashtag, make sure it fits with the vibe of the group. Empower your group or company with a strong community that can be reached with shared UGC.
